Ultrasound / ultrasonic transducers

An ultrasonic transducer, or ultrasound probe as they are commonly called, is a small hand held device with a cable that attaches to an ultrasound machine. The ultrasonic transducer sends and receives sound waves of various frequencies and passes that data back to the ultrasound machine. The size, shape, and frequency range of the ultrasonic transducer determine its optimal use, the shape of the image that comes from it, and the depth the sound can penetrate.
